The primary dentition differs significantly from permanent teeth in terms of the crown, root and pulpal morphology. Additionally, there are certain caries risk factors that are more common during childhood. Thus the management of caries in the primary dentition requires a tailored approach, and this presentation will review the appropriate methods to manage these clinical scenarios based on the common patterns of caries seen in the primary dentition.
